Milla and the Geeks

Hello. It's Puma Mimi. In this Chocolate Music blog, I mainly introduce Swiss music in Japanese. But, yes, sometimes, I try to write about Japanese music in English!

Here's my latest discovery of cool Japanese indie music.

"New Age" by Milla and the Geeks; simple melody line + geeky drums + crazy saxophone. It reminds me of 80s New York post punk. The video is very nice too. Moe, the band's vocal, writes in her blog that she didn't intend to shoot a music clip when she went to the sea first, but just kept strolling around the water with her iPhone. Later she found the movie fits to music. Yeah, music goes like this. You never know where inspirations come from.

Moe has another band called Love & Hates, playful kitchy lo-fi trashy pop, toy version of Cibo and Matto. They are totally fun to listen to.

Oh, btw, my band Tim & Puma Mimi play on 16 July with Rizzo Knor at Exil, Zürich. If you are around, join us :)

Cheers,

Puma Mimi
